Raining Season

Raining season has started in Nicaragua. It does not affect Granada that much, but in Matagalpa PHPG’s team suffers. Sometimes interviewing new loan candidates is a hard work, especially when the storm comes when you don’t expect it and you get stuck in your client’s house for three hours waiting for the rain to stop, but it never does!!! Fortunately, Nicas are the best hosts ever and when you get stuck in a place full of food, in the end you can quiet enjoy it.

PHPG’s Reunion in Granada

This Monday and Tuesday two PHPGs’ teams reunited in Granada to share their experiences. Accompanying Juan Carlos and Enmanuel during their regular collections in El Pantanal and San Juan de Oriente, Matagalpa’s team could get to know a little bit about Granada’s work. Although PHPG’s program and its objective are the same in both places, clients and their projects are different and so are the difficulties both our teams daily have to face. Apart from the differences between Granada and Matagalpa, in the end some of these challenges are very similar and it’s good to know how other team handles them. So nice to have the opportunity to get together and talk. Hope we will see JC and Enmanuel in Matagalpa soon.

Second Loan for “En Dios Confiamos” Group in Matagalpa

Last October we enriched our list of clients in Matagalpa by the group called “En Dios Confiamos”. By that time the group leader Mandiel was starting her first business. We were a little bit preoccupied about her lack of experiences, but not even eight months later we are happy to see all group members cancelling their first loans in advance and Mandiel expanding her business by Masaya´s shoes that she is now going to sell apart from the clothes. We are proud of each and every one of the ladies from this group and the great job they have done in the last eight months. As a proof, everybody from PHPH´s team bought some new fashion pieces from other group member, Valentina, who is a fantastic dress-maker.

Bread-making in Soledad de la Cruz

The end of April in Soledad de la Cruz was special not only because we distributed new loans to our two groups there but also because we had a visit from U.S. – PHPG’s directors Isabel and Alex with a future-director-to-be Elsie. To show them their gratitude our clients prepared a bread-making activity for Isabel and Alex. Now we all could survive in Nicaragua knowing how to make our own Nica-style pastry!!!
